Carol Singing

20 January 2003
CAROL SINGING IN AID OF THE CYSTIC FIBROSIS RESEARCH TRUST

Dear Sir/Madam

1. On the 19 December 2002, members of the Rheindahlen Choral Society, which is based in Germany sang Christmas carols to the occupants of the Rheindahlen Military Garrison. It was suggested, prior to the event that any donations that were received for that evening should be given to the Cystic Fibrosis Research Trust.

2. The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all that attended and I am happy, on behalf of the Rheindahlen Choral society, to present a cheque to your trust for £150.00 May I take this opportunity of wishing you a very prosperous 2003

Rheindahlen Bulletin report on the Choral Society concert - 2003

The Hair of the Dog

On Sunday 26th January the Rheindahlen Choral Society held a concert in St. Boniface Church in JHQ. The concert programme apply named "The Hair of the Dog", was designed to provide an antidote to holiday over-indulgence certainly achieved its aim on a cold and wet evening. The programme, which was created by the Musical Director Ray Ross, consisted of a mixed bag of his favourites. The 33 strong choir sang songs by Italian, Hungarian and English composers such as Pitoni, Monteverdi and Elgar and with the outstanding solo performances from Suzannah Pinkney and Adrian Brind the evening was greatly enjoyed by all. The Rheindahlen Choral Society - formerly the St. Boniface Choral Society - has performed works by a wide range of composers in its 40 year history: Bach, Coleridge-Taylor, Elgar, Mozart, Puccini, Vivaldi, Handel and Gilbert & Sullivan to name but a few. Their next concert is already in the planning for the summer. The Choral Society has a broad membership, which includes people from the whole Rheindahlen community, service personnel and dependants, to teachers, dentists, and local German civilians, some accomplished musicians and singers, others have never sung in a choir before. They meet every Monday evening in St Boniface Church, JHQ at 8pm and new members are always made welcome, whatever their musical expertise. If you would like more information about the Choral Society or would like to go along and join in then please contact Nigel Pinkney on 02161 955866
